Why is this contract needed?

Everbridge is an enterprise software platform for public safety communication and notification designed to coordinate emergency management efforts to address crises and accelerate response times in such emergencies. The School District of Philadelphia's (District) Office of School Safety is in the initial implementation phase of the Everbridge system. The Everbridge platform will have two uses: internal group-based messaging for communication among specific school safety and emergency response communication groups. Everbridge also offers a phone-based application through which District staff can activate an emergency alert in an emergency or crisis. Through this action item, the Office of School Safety seeks authorization to contract with Everbridge for technical support to facilitate the customization of the technology for the District, training support, and support in implementing the system.

How is this work connected to the District’s plan to achieve Goals & Guardrails?

This action item aligns with Guardrail 1, welcoming, safe, and supportive schools. District safety and emergency response staff need access to a technology solution to improve coordination and emergency response. All District personnel should have access to tools that allow the to make an alert in case of an emergency.

How will the success of this contract be measured?

Appropriate customization of the Everbridge system to meet the specific needs and structure of the School District via the contracted technical assistance so that the system can be effectively and timely rolled out across the District.

Is this an evidence-based strategy?

It is best practice in school and public safety to use tools that facilitate communication and coordination.
