Why is this contract needed?

Advant-EDGE will provide waste management, per code, to remove/replace all sharps containers from schools across the School District of Philadelphia (District). Additionally, Advant-EDGE will dispose of used PPE and COVID-19 testing materials at schools, as needed.

How is this work connected to the District’s plan to achieve Goals & Guardrails?

The removal process will help limit the spread of pathogens within school buildings and is aligned to Guardrail 1 for every school to be a safe, welcoming and healthy place for students, staff and the community to learn and grow.

How will the success of this contract be measured?

The success of this work will be measured by the reduction in hazardous medical waste material storage in schools.

If this is the continuation of a contract, how has success been measured in the past and what specific information do we have to show that it was successful?

Advant-EDGE is a supplier that we hold a yearly contract with. They are a trusted supplier who offers 3-5 hazardous waste pick ups throughout the school year. They provide fast, safe service and work closely with Student Health Services staff to keep our schools clean of medical waste.
