Description: Harambee Institute of Science and Technology Charter School applied for renewal of its charter in the 2020-21 school year. A renewal evaluation of this charter school was completed by the Charter Schools Office in 2020-21, and the latest Annual Charter Evaluation with renewal recommendation was completed in 2021 (ACE-R -- Renewal Recommendation). The CSO has recommended a five-year renewal, effectiveJuly 1, 2021. The renewal includes seven school-specific conditions related to: (i) academic achievement and growth for each tested subject based on PSSA ELA, PSSA Math, and PSSA Science assessments; (ii) submission of a revised employee handbook and/or hiring policy outlining employee criminal history background check and child abuse clearance requirements; (iii) annual submission of employee criminal history background checks and child abuse clearances; and (iv) governance requirements including the proper use of executive session and voting on specific items at public meetings of the Charter School's Board. The Board of Education will consider this application for charter renewal.
