Start Date: 1/1/2022
End Date: 12/30/2022
Compensation not to exceed: $175,000
Location(s):
Gideon, Edward School; Blaine, James G. School; Kelley, William D. School; Wright, Richard R. School
Description:
School-based health centers allow students to access healthcare where students already spend most of their time – at school. Access to school-based health services provided through a nurse practitioner allows students to have health problems resolved sooner, fewer missed school days, reduced unnecessary ER visits, increased access to behavioral health screenings and services, and personalized care coordination. Gideon Health Center is a District-run health center staffed by a contracted Nurse Practitioner. Gideon Health Center will provide acute care of rashes, ear pain, sore throat, sprains and strains and care coordination, including referral to behavioral health providers to students of Gideon, Blaine, Wright, and Kelley. As the project grows there is possibility to expand these services to other schools in the District based on health needs. This contract supports the Board’s guardrail of welcoming and supportive schools by allowing access to care onsite in schools. This in turn will reduce the number of unnecessary absences having a direct impact on the student’s success in school. Data will be captured in the student information system which will then be analyzed to show health trends. Due to the pandemic in person services were delayed. As such, this item is a ratification, as new terms had to be negotiated to fulfill the previous agreement and develop a new agreement that best meets the service needs of the District.
