The Administration recommends that the Board of Education ratify and authorize the execution and performance of an agreement by The School District of Philadelphia, through the Superintendent or his designee, subject to funding, as follows:
With: City of Philadelphia Department of Public Health
Purpose: Food safety inspections at over 250 school cafeteria locations
Start date: 7/1/2021
End date: 6/30/2022
Reimbursement amount not to exceed: $85,000
Location(s):
School District cafeteria locations throughout the city
Description:
The Food Services Division is required to obtain two food safety inspections for each service location per year to remain in compliance with federal guidelines. The federal National School Lunch Act requires that these inspections be completed by the local governing agency. The City of Philadelphia Department of Public Health conducts the first of these two annual inspections at no cost to the District as a professional courtesy. The purpose of this action item is to reimburse the City for the cost of the additional inspection at each cafeteria location. The City of Philadelphia Department of Public Health is the current vendor for this requirement and has completed 100% of all inspections on a timely basis. Due to the ongoing impact of the Pandemic, this item is a ratification as the Department of Health worked to determine the billing process for these services.
