The Administration recommends that the Board of Education ratify the execution and performance of a Memorandum of Understanding by The School District of Philadelphia, through the Superintendent or his designee, as follows: 

With:  Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP)

Purpose: Partnership to facilitate access to COVID-19 testing materials for School District students and employees

A COVID-19 testing program is being provided to students and District employees and contractors. Student testing and staff testing programs have been developed in conjunction with CHOP and in line with CDC guidelines. CHOP will provide BinaxNOW tests testing supplies to the District to support these programs. In addition, CHOP will continue to provide training on the tests and advise on testing plan and design as necessary.  

In response to COVID, the District partnered with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to stand up a testing program for students and staff.  CHOP is providing the testing materials in support of the program.

 COVID testing directly supports the Board of Education's Guardrail 1 by supporting the health of students and employees through creating healthy space in schools.

The success of the contract will be measured by our ability to support a cost effective COVID testing program.

CHOP has been a partner in helping the District stand up our COVID testing program and roll out a vaccination program. They were able to deliver 100% of the needed testing supplies for the rapid testing program from the initial contract.
