Description

The approved and adopted FY21 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) includes funding for  classroom modernization at nine schools identified as a part of the District's Early Literacy Initiative. The Office of Capital Programs works in collaboration with the Office of Early Education to select schools for the annual modernization projects.  Schools are prioritized for participation based upon three main variables: (1) low reading proficiency levels as measured by 3rd grade PSSA-ELA scores; (2) effective implementation of the comprehensive early literacy framework; and (3) condition/readiness of facilities for modernization. The project budget includes the purchase of new furniture and equipment. The new furniture will support modern teaching and learning centers such as listening, writing and reading centers, and small group and large group instruction. Furniture will be procured from vendors who are a part of the PA Commonwealth Cooperative Program. By using the identified vendors, we are guaranteed the lowest, most competitive price. The Office of Capital Programs will establish a delivery deadline to ensure all spaces are furnished in time for the opening of the new school year. This work is in support of the Operations goal to provide, safe and healthy learning environments for all students.
