Description:
The School District of Philadelphia has a longstanding relationship with the Office of Addiction Services (OAS) through the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbilities Services (DBHIDS). This partnership allows the substance abuse prevention providers listed above to provide multiple services for our students. These services include substance abuse prevention, treatment programming, and the Student Assistance Program (SAP) which is a state-mandated program that helps assess and connect students with services. This action item is to accept an in-kind donation, valued at $6,000,000, for the services described above. Prior to now, many of the substance abuse providers' partnerships were documented by executing a school partnership agreement. After recent review of the school partnership agreement requirements with the Office of General Counsel, it was decided that a memorandum of understanding was more appropriate based on the value and type of services provided. A ratification is requested since this critical work has been ongoing since the expiration of several school partnership agreements and the conclusion of the review.
