The goal of the school-based health center, located at Gideon School, is to increase access to health care for students attending Gideon, Wright, WD Kelley, and Blaine Schools. To open and operate the school-based health clinic, the School District contracted with the Health Federation to provide a care management provider. The contractor has extensive knowledge and background in health care human resources management. The care management coordinator has developed protocols; has responsibility and accountability for leading and managing the daily operations of the school-based health center; has delivered primary care and helped manage chronic conditions, and with the involvement of each school’s certified school nurse, treated short-term illness for students attending the four designated schools. The School District is requesting an additional $10,000 for a total of $170,000, which should have been the original request.
