| | | | | | | | | Description:
The School District of Philadelphia and Parkway Center City Middle College High School will continue to remove barriers for underserved, first-generation college students across Philadelphia through the dual-enrollment partnership with the Community College of Philadelphia. The dual-enrollment program immerses students in rigorous engaging curriculum that will prepare them to be successful beyond college. The innovative research-based middle college model is designed to prepare students for college-level work and jumpstart their success in college by allowing them to take a blend of high school and college level courses. Students will be able to earn up to 61 transferable college credits and graduate high school with an associate degree making them eligible for transfer as a junior to a four-year institution. This program will help eliminate barriers, reduce college costs for students, prepare students to be college and career ready, and it is directly aligned to the District's Anchor Goal 1.
In addition, we are seeking authorization to realign Parkway Center City Middle College (PCCMC) academic calendars to better align with The Community College of Philadelphia’s (CCP) course calendar for 2021-2025. The Winter and Spring break schedules at PCCMC and CCP are not aligned and, as a result, PCCMC students have to attend classes that are offered during times that would normally constitute Spring or Winter Break for the District.
