The Administration recommends that the Board of Education ratify the execution and performance of a contract by The School District of Philadelphia, through the Superintendent or his designee, subject to funding, as follows:

With:  Council of Great City Schools

Purpose:  Reimburse travel expenses for Council of Great City School employees in order to provide training and working sessions for members of the Board of Education on effective board governance practices

Start Date:  10/1/2019

End Date:  1/10/2020

Compensation not to exceed:  $8,863

Location(s):  Administrative Office

Description:

This is a ratification to cover travel expenses for employees of the Council of Great City Schools to conduct trainings and working sessions with members of the Board of Education on effective board governance practices.  Over the course of the 2019-2020 school year, members of the Board of Education have participated in development sessions in order to build board member capacity and understanding of effective board governance practices.  This work is included as part of the School District of Philadelphia's membership in the Council of Great City Schools, however, this ratification is needed to pay for travel reimbursement costs for Council of Great City Schools staff members which were not covered.
