The Administration recommends that the Board of Education ratify the execution and performance of a contract by The School District of Philadelphia, through the Superintendent or his designee, subject to funding, as follows: 

With: Dancing Classrooms Philly (DCP)

Purpose: To work towards the mission of DCP, fostering self-esteem, social awareness, and joy through learning and performing ballroom dance

Start Date: 11/15/2019

End Date: 6/7/2020

Compensation not to exceed: $2,000

Description: The DCP program aims to further develop social and emotional skills in students, including life skills like patience, teamwork, perseverance, self-reliance, self-reflection, group problem solving skills, and many more.  Dr. Ethel Allen Promise Academy started a limited contract with DCP to facilitate social development through dance enrichment at the school in February 2020. However, there was a delay in communication in conjunction with an administrator’s military deployment that prevented the contract from being completed.  This ratification is required due to a mistake by the school not understanding the correct procedure for re-engaging and compensating a contractor for additional work not previously covered by a limited contract. In the future, it is understood that no further engagement of contractors by the school will be made without prior Board of Education approval.
