 The Administration recommends that the Board of Education authorize The School District of Philadelphia, through the Superintendent or his designee, to execute and perform a contract, subject to funding, as follows:

U.S. Foods, Inc.  

 Purpose: 
Supplier of groceries and provisions to meet the operational requirements of the national breakfast, lunch, and after-school meals program

 Start date: 7/1/2020

 End date: 6/30/2022
 Compensation not to exceed: $19,800,000

 Maximum compensation authorized per option period:   $9,900,000

 Description:
The Division of Food Services has identified a need for a supplier of broad line groceries and provisions to meet the operational demands within school cafeterias. The grocery provider will deliver all center-of-the-plate items, including all meat and proteins, breakfast cereals, breakfast bars, baked goods, frozen fruits and vegetables, all spices and condiments, and many other frequently ordered items. By contracting with a reputable vendor, Food Services assures that schools can obtain good quality food easily and in a timely manner. It is important that school kitchens and cafeterias are able to easily procure and serve a variety of high quality and nutritious food that is reliably delivered. The Division of Food Services expects that through the implementation of this contract, students in all schools will have access to daily, uninterrupted meal service in fully stocked cafeterias. Contracting for this service supports the Operations goal of providing 100% of students with a safe, healthy learning environment.
