The Administration recommends that the Board of Education ratify the execution and performance of a contract, through the Superintendent or his designee, subject to funding, as follows:
With: Energy Coordinating Agency
Purpose: Classroom instruction for the District’s HVAC apprenticeship program
Start Date: 10/1/2019
End Date: 6/30/2020
Compensation not to exceed: $15,000
Description:
The Department of Facilities Management and Services has a need to provide Career and Technical Education instructors for the classroom portion of the School District's HVAC apprenticeship program. The Office of Career and Technical Education recommends Energy Coordinating Agency to provide the classroom training. Energy Coordinating Agency currently serves as a partner to the Office of Career and Technical Education to provide internships for students. Instructors teach class one night a week, for four (4) hours at a rate of $81/hr. Classes began in October 2019, and will conclude in June 2020. Apprentices have been participating in online classes since mid-March when in-person instruction stopped due to COVID-19. This ratification is requested in order to process existing invoices from Energy Coordinating Agency which should have been approved through the District's limited contract process but were not because of staffing gaps. The Office of Maintenance will track the services of Energy Coordinating Agency through quarterly assessments of apprentices as a check to ensure learning and understanding.
