 The Administration recommends that the Board of Education authorize The School District of Philadelphia, through the Superintendent or his designee, to execute and perform a contract, subject to funding, as follows: 

 With:
City of Philadelphia 

 Purpose: 
To reimburse the Philadelphia Department of Public Health for performing food safety inspections at over 250 school cafeteria locations

 Start date: 7/1/2020

 End date: 6/30/2021
 Compensation not to exceed: $85,000

 Description:

The Division of Food Services is required to obtain two food safety inspections each year to remain in compliance with federal guidelines.  The National School Lunch Act requires that food safety inspections be conducted by the local governmental agency.  The Philadelphia Department of Public Health conducts one yearly inspection at no cost to the District.  The Division of Food Services is required to cover the cost of the second inspection.  The purpose of this action item is to reimburse the Department of Public Health for the cost of the additional inspection. The City of Philadelphia Department of Public Health is the current vendor for this requirement and has completed 100% of all inspections required under the current contract.
