The Office of Transportation Services has identified a need to increase the speed of providing services and repairs for the District's yellow bus fleet by contracting with multiple vendors across various maintenance trade categories. There are approximately 400 bus repair jobs conducted monthly. The District garages usually handle the quick and routine repairs and send out approximately 10% of the repair jobs to external contractors. The contractors selected will provide repairs, diagnostics, bodywork and other maintenance services for the District's fleet of school buses when District mechanics do not have the capacity. This contract supports Transportation's goal to provide safe, reliable and efficient transportation for students to and from school. Transportation garage personnel monitor and oversee the work of the vendors and ensure that the District vehicles receive routine services and repairs.
