The Administration recommends that the Board of Education authorize The School District of Philadelphia, through the Superintendent or his designee, to make payments of annual membership dues to the Philadelphia Public League (PPL), Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA), and PIAA District XII.

 

Purpose: Payment of annual membership dues

 

Start date: 7/1/2020

 

End date: 6/30/2021

 

Compensation not to exceed: $139,600

 

Location: All high schools

 

Renewal Options: 2

 

Description:

The payment of annual membership dues is a requirement of all membership schools for the participation in all local, regional, and state championship level athletic competitions. There are several thousand student-athletes across the fifty member PIAA schools who participate each year in our scholastic athletics through the state association. The School District of Philadelphia's student-athletes participate in twenty-eight different varsity sports, vying for state championships that in 2019 resulted in one team and three individual state championship victories for boys tennis and co-ed track and field.
