 The Administration recommends that the Board of Education authorize The School District of Philadelphia, through the Superintendent or his designee, to execute and perform a contract, subject to funding, as follows:

 Purpose: 

1) Training and support and technical assistance to school-based staff related to the implementation of Tier II services and conflict-resolution practices, and programming for families

2) Training and support for school staff on trauma-informed practices

3) Provision of evidence-based universal screener used to identify students for Tier II interventions in schools, and assisting school staff on administration and use of the screener

4) Provision of professional development for school police around trauma in education in conjunction with positive behavior interventions (PBIS) and supports

5) Designing and executing implementation research in schools to inform high-quality services

6) Training for school staff on reducing disproportionality in discipline through the use of equity principles and strategies

 Description:
These vendors will provide the services being funded by the recent Project Prevent award to the School District from the U.S. Department of Education. This highly competitive grant was awarded for the purpose of improving support systems for students and families in schools in high-crime communities, and building district capacity to provide similar services to other schools. Schools were selected because of the crime data in the surrounding communities.  Other schools in high-crime communities may be selected as deemed appropriate by the funder and the Office of Climate and Safety.
