| | | | | | | | | Description:
The Division of Athletics supports bowling programs involving student-athletes in participating District high schools. Erie Lanes is used by the District's Division of Athletics for its bowling programs because it is the largest bowling center in Philadelphia, easily accessible, and can sufficiently accommodate the Philadelphia Public League teams and host the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association District XII championships. Coaches are also provided by Erie Lanes to give guided instruction designed to improve skills and accuracy in the sport. Schools are selected on the basis of student interest and participation numbers, as well as a feasibility assessment of a school's ability to host and sustain a viable bowling team.
